How wrong I was! Personally I probably watch as many hours of YouTube each week as I do TV or on-demand channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-59afcb44eefad6ac31ee35b8e065d85d\" style=\"font-size:15px\">This article explores my experience voicing hundreds of videos and traces the platform&#8217;s massive evolution \u2013 from the early days of silly pranks and cat videos to becoming the world&#8217;s dominant media player today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-e3fdcac3a196efe025e03004152061aa\" style=\"font-size:15px\"><em>To view rates, audio samples, and book a session immediately, skip straight to my<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-border-color has-white-color has-vivid-red-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-d6c97263085295cf8acef6a4ff85594c\" style=\"border-color:#000000;border-width:9px;border-radius:25px\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.provoiceactor.co.uk\/voiceover-services\/youtube-narration\/\">YOUTUBE NARRATION SERVICES<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">YouTube narration is growing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The digital age has unlocked opportunities for skilled creators to bring to life their imaginings that until a decade or so ago would have remained just that &#8211; imagined projects that could never become real due to lack of funding or unattainable technicalities.&nbsp; As a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.provoiceactor.co.uk\/voiceover-services\/documentary-narration\/\">documentary narrator<\/a><\/strong>, I&#8217;m excited about the future for this kind of content on YouTube and expanding my work as a narrator for YouTube videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As video content becomes more sophisticated, many creators are finding success by adopting a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.provoiceactor.co.uk\/blog\/commercial-voiceover-trends\/\">commercial voiceover strategy<\/a><\/strong> to keep viewers engaged (check out my latest trends guide for more).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Ok so there&#8217;s a load of rubbish on the platform and you need to wade through it but the helpful algorithm will hopefully guide you and create for you, your own personalised collection of never-ending content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>YouTube voice over is massive<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve hundreds of videos across the platform but these are short-form videos that the company simply place on their channel alongside their website and social media etc.&nbsp; But in recent times I&#8217;m recording loads of voice over for YouTube, just YouTube!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Documentaries on YouTube<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>That content includes many thousands of documentaries, some of which gain a far larger audience than the equivalent available through on-demand or traditional TV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>I remember speaking with a documentary producer I was working with and I mentioned that a YouTube doc that I had voiced had over 4 million views. This producer stated that for the programmes their documentary production company work on, they could only dream of such numbers across non-YouTube channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Millions of views on YouTube<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"True Size of a Roman Legion (3D) DOCUMENTARY\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eR-J_JSBNTI?start=101&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5.5 million views so far for this one video alone!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve voiced hundreds of videos that sit on YouTube; these are mainly <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.provoiceactor.co.uk\/voiceover-services\/explainers\/\">explainer videos<\/a> <\/strong> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.provoiceactor.co.uk\/voiceover-services\/corporate-narration\/\"><strong>corporate narrations<\/strong><\/a> for a whole raft of companies worldwide. Although it&#8217;s nice to see the finished product, it&#8217;s not something I get excited about. But one of my favourite and regular jobs is for one of the most popular history channels on YouTube. The channel is Invicta History which has over 1.4 million subscribers and whose short documentaries reach audiences ranging from hundreds of thousands to millions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s fascinating to think that as a narrator for YouTube videos, your voice can reach a far greater audience than similar content on Discovery or National Geographic!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m just one of a large team lead by Julien Blarel, the founder of Invicta. However, unlike the audiobook narrator who only has their voice to tell the story, on YouTube there are the visuals and my job is to assist in the storytelling rather than being the solo storyteller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>YouTube documentaries often require rapid turnaround times once the team is in &#8216;creation mode&#8217;. Typically, a professional narrator will review the script for sense and pronunciation before hitting the booth. At the same time, the animation team are hard at work preparing each set of visuals. When I&#8217;m recording, I&#8217;m working purely with the script and (usually) have no access to the visuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A typical script will take a day to record and edit and then this is sent to the animation team to match up with the visuals and any music\/fx they will be using.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone involved works very hard to release something we can all be proud of. A bonus for me is that I&#8217;ve always been interested in military history and I learn so much from voicing these videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AI narration versus the real thing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent years, deep learning algorithms and neural networks have enabled the development of AI-generated narration for YouTube videos. This offers a number of advantages over human voices such as time efficiency, budget savings, creative control and consistency with multi-lingual support options. While tools like ElevenLabs offer speed, the industry consensus is that nothing can replace the warmth and engagement of an authentic human voice for high-retention content.
